Jeffrey A. Rogers was known as an outstanding academician during his four years at Philip Barbour High School, speaking on behalf of the Class of 1984 as its Salutatorian, having ranked second among 175 peers. He scored above the 90th percentile in both the CTBS and ACT protocols. Jeff was a member of the Biology Club and was selected to the National Honor Society in 1983, serving as the PBHS chapter president during his senior year.
His contributions to Colt Pride continued after regular school hours as a four-year member of the PB football, basketball and baseball programs, earning Blue Chip trophies in each along the way. Jeff was named the school’s George Byrer Scholarship Award winner at the school’s spring banquet for student-athletes in the spring of 1984.
Jeffrey collected several honors during his athletic career, including selection to the Class AAA Second Team All-State in baseball in 1984, after having been chosen to the Special Honorable Mention squad in 1983. Jeff was also named to the First Team All-Big Ten Conference baseball teams in both 1983 and 1984. Additionally, he was selected to participate in the Big Ten All-Star basketball game in 1983-84.
Following graduation from PB, Mr. Rogers went on to play college baseball at Alderson-Broaddus College while earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1988. That year, he was named the Battlers’ Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete.
Remaining close to home after commencement at A-B, Jeff spent several seasons coaching Lady Battler softball and has also served the local community in various youth sports programs as a volunteer coach and officer during the ensuing years. His voice has been recognizable as the public address announcer for scores of Colt football and basketball athletic events since 1986. He presently serves at the PA microphone during ABU gridiron and hardwood events.
Jeff Rogers has held various offices in local businesses and organizations over the past three decades. His 24-year banking career culminated in his role as President and CEO at BC Bank. He presently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the Barbour Community Health Association. He and his wife, Carla, reside in Philippi. They are proud parents of two children, Tyler and Lauren, and grandson, Nolan.
